His Hands
At PSPT we believe that an integral part of becoming a disciple of Jesus is learning how to serve others. We know our church is full of wonderful and loving Christ-followers who long to serve others with the abilities, talents and resources that God has blessed them with. We are a community who desires to have the heart of Jesus, and Jesus’ heart is for those who are lost and in need.
We also know that we don't have to look far to find opportunities to meet people's needs through acts of service. There are places and people with needs to be met all around the town of Parry Sound and we feel called as a church to help meet those needs.
His Hands
His Hands is our ministry designed to create awareness of existing community organizations who are already actively meeting the needs of people in our community, and providing the people of our own church opportunities to become the hands and feet of Jesus to the town of Parry Sound. At it's heart, His Hands is designed to foster regular, consistent, and active involvement in our town, giving us opportunities to share Jesus through tangible actions instead of just words.
His Hands is not about simply throwing money and resources at a need because poverty and need is about far more then just finances. Poverty is actually defined as the the extent to which an individual does without the resources of finances, emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health, as well as, support systems, relationship/role models and knowledge of hidden rules.
Whether it's providing shoes, clothes and toys for lower-income kids at Victory School, rebuilding the flower garden at The Friends center or helping meet a need for essential household items, each project we undertake is done with the purpose of getting involved in the lives of people and showing them the love of Jesus through our actions.
Deuteronomy 15: 7-11 says that“If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs.
Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.
